Description: Wyoming welcomed back affiliated Minor League Baseball when the Butte Copper Kings relocated to Casper prior to the 2001 season. Prior to the Casper Rockies inaugural season, only Cheyenne hosted MiLB Clubs in Wyoming: Class D Rocky Mountain League in 1912, and Class D Western League in 1941. Casper's Rockies never enjoyed a winning season, having only made the postseason in its first year despite a losing record. Following the 2007 season, Casper unveiled its new moniker and logos on Halloween: the Casper Ghosts. While the name derives from the old cartoon, "Casper the Friendly Ghost," this was the first time a professional baseball team used "Ghosts" as its nickname. The Ghosts also sported the first-ever caps featuring glow-in-the-dark thread. After a four-year run in Casper, the Ghosts were purchased by the Colorado Rockies and relocated to Grand Junction (CO), where the Club remains today.
